It’s been a few days since I’ve left Sheffield. I’ve had time to settle back into normal life, and there’s only one thing on my mind: I can’t wait to be back in Sheffield next year.

This year’s festival was my first time, and I’ve already set my mind to come back every year. It was an amazing experience and I was fortunate to watch a ton of documentaries that have blown my mind.
I was even lucky enough to have the opportunity to ask Idris Elba a question on his upcoming docu-series with Nat Geo – a moment I’ll cherish forever.
Here are some of my favourite documentaries that I watched at the festival:
Klitschko: More Than a Fight

A documentary that follows boxer-turned-Mayor of Kyiv during a horrific war against Russia.
The Contestant

The most batshit crazy documentary you’ll see this year. A must-see. The less I tell you about this, the better it’ll be.
Farming The Revolution

Follow the protest amongst the farmers and their poetic uprising. The farmers protested against the government during the pandemic.
Agent of Happiness

A light hearted documentary about measuring happiness which will have you laughing.
At the Door of the House Who Will Come Knocking

A slow paced beautiful piece of art with some of the most stunning transitions and music
Strike: An Uncivil War

A monumental documentary about the miner strikes of the 80s that’s troubled miners across the UK ever since.
The Boy and the Suit of Lights

A well crafted documentary in which we watch a bullfighting prospect grow from childhood to early adulthood.
